How to use the library

The student will find that it is easy to locate books and other materials in the Nehemia Library system.

Here are some suggestions

General Collection
The student will find that most books are found in this area. They are physically organized on shelves according to the Dewey Decimal Classification System (see below). The student can browse the appropriate bookshelves for materials of interest. For example, a mathematics book is found in the section labeled 510.

Periodical Section
This contains issues of journals and magazines.

Reference Section
Material such as dictionaries and encyclopedias are located in this section.

Reserve Collection
This contains rare and unique books which are not available for circulation outside the library. Multimedia Collection - Material such as audio files, video cassettes, and DVD‘s are located here.

Special Collections
This section contains collection of materials that are of special interest to the institution, students, and faculty members. One very special collection is our large holding of books on Creation Science.

Use the Search Engines
To find specific materials, the student can use the Nehemiah digital catalog system (NU Library Search Form). Search engines allow the student to define the exact material of interest. The system then informs the student as to the content, availability and location of the requested material. For example, if the search turns up a book, its location will be identified by the Dewey Decimal
number.

Ask for help
Of course, a friendly librarian is readily available to assist you with your needs and answer any questions.
